Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) (also known as Mental HealthAwareness Week) was established in 1990 by the U.S. Congress in recognition of efforts by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to educate and increase awareness about mental illness.
It’s a busy week for all since it’s Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW)!  We know there are lots of great things going on across the country – walks, events, etc. – so just a reminder to use the hashtag #MIAW when you post your exciting news on social media.

#MIAW on Social Media
  • Remember to use the hashtag #MIAW when posting on your social media accounts, so the NAMI community can stay up to date on what’s going on around the country!
  • Follow us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for more updates throughout the week.

FOX Sports is #StigmaFree
  • During NCAA football games this weekend, FOX Sports will promote MIAW. Be sure to tune in!
  • Last weekend, FOX Sports sportscasters, including Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan, Howie Long and more wore NAMI pins during NFL games!
  • View the FOX Sports PSA.
  • Learn more about our partnership with FOX Sports.

Philosophy’s hope&grace
  • Philosophy is supporting mental health efforts in honor of MIAW and World Mental Health Day (October 10). Use the promo code: hopeandgrace and enjoy 25% off your purchase on philosophy.com. This offer is valid today through October 10.
  • Learn more about the hope & grace initiative, which donates a percentage of sales to community-based mental health efforts.

NAMI’s Celebrity Corps
  • Thank you to Clark Gregg, who participated in the #22pushups challenge on Instagram. Clark is raising awareness on veterans who die by suicide every day.
  • Thank you to Carly Chaikin and Mayim Bialik for fundraising and leading teams for NAMIWalks LA (October 2). We’re excited to have celebrities joining their local affiliates!
