Be Vocal Documentary
Meet Jeff, Lauren and Lloyd, three different people who share one common experience—their lives have been transformed by speaking up for mental health. The film provides a glimpse into their lives and their diagnoses—which include bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression and anxiety—ultimately weaving together a story about how speaking up is key to living well. Beyond Silence, directed by Shaul Schwarz and executive produced by Demi Lovato, celebrates the strength, perseverance and dedication of these courageous individuals determined to break through the silence often associated with mental illness and help others along the way.

Go Fetch Wellness
Animal assisted therapy offers positive behavioral support for people with severe emotional or behavioral problems.  It is a goal oriented intervention that caters to the individual needs of each person.  You will see it used in many different environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, rehabs, and counseling centers. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) can be an integrative part of a treatment plan for various disorders, ranging from physical disabilities to severe mental health disorders.  AAT specifically targets individuals medical needs and can provide healing when many other therapies have failed.

RIDE 4 SPMI
Ride 4 SPMI is a bike ride event to raise awareness for severe and persistent mental illness. We aim to get people moving, talking, listening and riding in the name of rehabilitation, resiliency, and recovery.
The ride is from Charleston to Spartanburg, which is approximately 200 miles. Lloyd welcomes you to join him. The money raised will go to support Lloyd sharing his recovery story and spreading hope to those in South Carolina.
Ride 4 SPMI is sponsored by South Carolina SHARE and is part of their community outreach and all donations will be tax deductible.

The Opposite of Addiction is Connection
Right now an exciting new perspective on addiction is emerging. Johann Harri, author of Chasing The Scream, recently captured widespread public interest with his Ted talk Everything You Know About Addiction Is Wrong, where he concluded with this powerful statement:“The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection.”– Johann HarriThese sentiments are augmented by a growing number of experts, including addiction specialist Dr Gabor Maté, who cites ’emotional loss and trauma’ as the core of addiction. Compare this ’emotional loss’ to Johan Harri’s idea about lack of connection and it is clear they’re talking about a similar emotional condition.
